In order to better get acquainted and to initiate the sharing of ideas and information, each community will make a short presentation during lunch on the first day of the workshop. Presenters are encouraged to share (not necessarily in this order):
- Unique historical attributes of their community
- Critical issues commonly shared by citizens – things that “keep you up at night”
- Hurdles the community faces in their efforts to improve their local economy
- An anecdote or two that illustrates some unique characteristics of their community
- Qualities that make your community unique…What is it that makes people want to move to or live in your community?
- Sacred (special) places in your community
- What your community would like to fix
- What you currently are working on in your community
Please try to make the preparation of your presentation a team project so it reflects the thoughts of your community. Presentations should be limited to no more than 10 minutes so it might be advisable to let pictures and a few words depict the key points you wish to make about your community. You do not have to address all the suggestions from above. Here is your time to be creative and entertaining while setting the stage for your CET experience.
Blank note cards will be available so participants can make anonymous constructive suggestions or pose questions about topics covered during your presentation. Cards will be collected and given to you for use in developing your community’s action plans the afternoon of day 2.
